Protocinema presents a public program of artist talks, discussions, a film screening, and walkthroughs to accompany Now That We Have Established A Common Ground.
In collaboration with The Clemente, this last event following the exhibition will be a timely conversation about the repatriation of art objects from the perspective of law, art, and culture between Fionnuala Rogers, Art and Cultural Heritage Lawyer, Founder and Director of Canvas Art Law, and Chair of the U.K. Committee of the Blue Shield

Fionnuala Rogers is the founder and director of Canvas Art Law, a specialist International Art and Cultural Property Firm canvasartlaw.co.uk, Chair of the UK Committee for the Blue Shield (an independent, impartial, and neutral international NGO and advisory body to UNESCO for the protection of heritage in the event of armed conflict) and a Trustee of the Arab British Centre, a UK charity which focusses on developing relationships between Britain and the Arab world. Fionnuala has advised on cultural property issues for more than 10 years and advises on both sides of the repatriation debate as she advises collectors, museums, and the market (including on due diligence, potential claims and ownership disputes, and legal vs moral issues that might arise) as well as countries of origin seeking to recover illegally exported cultural property. A prominent advisor on international regulation and policy for heritage issues, Fionnuala is regularly consulted on international legislation relating to heritage protection during development, peacetime and conflict, archaeology and best practices in today’s excavations, and illicit trafficking.
Mary Rinebold is a consultant at Canvas Art Law, a specialist International Art and Cultural Property Firm (canvasartlaw.co.uk). Mary’s parallel creative practice is rooted in writing, curating, and art bookmaking, having contributed art criticism to magazines including Artforum, Artforum.com, Flash Art, and Art in America, and fictive essays for artists exhibitions and monographs. Between 2009 and 2014, Mary co-founded and co-directed Kunstverein NY, continuing to serve as a Board member for its relaunch in Spring 2022. Mary holds an Art Writing MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an LLM in Art, Business and Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
