STATEMENT
These small, synthetic landscapes are inspired by 1970s wallpapers, postwar painting, and Chinese scrolls. Space is spliced in shallow layers, almost woven like the lattice pattern often used as a binding element for pours of paint and ink. Combining disparate methods, I situate pattern beyond the surface repetition that so often reinforces hegemony, sexism, and white supremacy, breaking it open and going inside.
