Las Islas Interiores

October 7 5:00pm

By Pedro Wainer

By Pedro Wainer

Pedro Wainer, born in Mexico City to Argentine parents, focuses his individual practice within cinema and photography from an object-oriented perspective, putting at the forefront the materiality of select apparatuses and technologies. He transforms outdated instruments into new devices that generate images that extend beyond the machine’s designated purpose. He is interested in analog processes not only as a physical/chemical phenomenon, but also as an exploration of the history of the mechanisms that make these techniques possible. Las Islas Interiores are site specific installations to be found about The Clemete's historic building nooks and corridors when least expected.

Paper & Color - Techniques to transform paper into art

October 16 2:00pm

Collage is largely used as a technique not only for crafts but also as in Contemporary Art. It seems that it has always existed in the Arts, but it was only in 1912 that Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque began to stick newspaper cuttings and other materials onto their canvases. Because of that, collage is often thought of as an archetypally Modern artistic technique. Nowadays, collage is broadly used as much as painting and sculpture. Also, it can appear mixed with these two or many other ways of doing art.

Dea Segatto is an artist known for her collages that blend with many other techniques, creating true assemblages. She and the art curator Caru Albuquerque prepared this workshop to show some of these possibilities, as:

- light table;

- gouache and watercolor effects on collage;

- the use of water for coloring;

- texture with words; among others

>> Participants will develop their work and can take it home

>> The workshop is free

>> It is not necessary to bring material

>> Public: 16yo +

Bone and Air / Connective Tissue

October 31 12:00pm

Clemente Performance_Instagram (1).jpg

Bone and Air - sound and visual by Tansy Xiao

Bone and Air is an audience participatory visual and sound installation inspired by the idea of the juxtaposition of bone conduction (within the human body) and air conduction (receiving sounds via the ears). The audience members are invited to make certain sounds through the piece according to the graphic score as an ensemble to create a spontaneous heterophony that is unique each time.

Connective Tissue - written by Ryan Pratt, performed by Marina Kifferstein

The title refers to a process by which the piece was derived from the acoustic structure of the violin, in conjunction with a theory of proportional relationships, finely tuned by the ear of the performer. In lieu of relaying some version of the myth of Ariadne, the work instead calls attention to the perpetuation of myth in general with regard to what Diane Marie Keeling refers to as “colonizing cuts” made throughout history that constitute “exclusions of communities from history and world making.”
