“We are a big family”

For this premiere presentation, Alea will be performing original music from her acclaimed album alongside new, never-before-heard songs, all with an emphasis on her well known afro latin folk diversity.

With a welcoming sound that embraces cumbia, vallenato, rancheras, afro-colombian beats, jazz and pop, the singer-songwriter Alea brings a powerful performance that links downtown New York to a Colombian cantina. Originally from La Guajira, Alea celebrates Latin America and redefines what “Latin Alternative” can be. Her latest album, Alborotá, was shortlisted among the Best Latin Music of the year by both Rolling Stone and NPR.
