En Comunidad: Latinx Photography Now (Ahora) presents the work of three photographers who explore Latinx identities forged across a multinational context. This exhibition of individual stories and shared spaces, in the United States and Latin America, generates important narratives contextualizing the debates around immigration and migrant culture in the United States.

Marilyn Montufar photographs acquaintances and friends in communities throughout the U.S. and Mexico, with the intention of advocating for and inspiring social change. Her work focuses on individuals on the social, economic and racial peripheries. As a Mexican-American dual citizen, she draws on inspiration from the diverse lifestyles she encounters and documents the transitions inherent in human relationships.

Inspired by L.A.’s urban sprawl and the natural landscapes of Colombia, Brazil, and Guatemala, Enio Hernandez captures the culture of these communities by juxtaposing the individual with their environment. In an effort to underscore diversity, his work expands on the cultural vernacular of the Chicano experience while exploring themes of race, language, sexuality, and identity.

Vanessa Briones elegantly illustrates beauty in the banal. Her use of color and subject matter evoke a dreamlike quality and sense of nostalgia that transcend time. Her work records everyday individuals in anonymous settings and blurs the boundaries of traditional and contemporary modes of Latinx representation.
