Tite Curet Alonso: Lyrics and Poetry is a one-man biographical show about the life of Tite Curet Alonso focused on the lyrics of his songs and poetry. A celebration of his artistic legacy as a renowned Puerto Rican composer and poet, whose work has left an indelible mark on Latin music. This event is supported and co-produced by Historias.

This production is a free theater adaptation of the book Tite Curet Alonso: Lyrics and Song written by Puerto Rican folklorist Norma Salazar, directed and starred by New York based Puerto Rican actor Josean Ortiz, Artistic Director of Latinx Performance Ensemble in co production with the Fundación Nacional Para La Cultura Popular in Puerto Rico.

The play is centered on the history of the Puerto Rican people and the lyrics of Tite Curet Alonso's songs that address a wide range of universal themes, such as love, social injustice, politics and cultural identity; using music and poetry as vehicles to convey powerful messages and provoke reflections on the human condition. Tite Curet Alonso's music and poetry transcend geographical and cultural boundaries, reaching audiences around the world. This presentation is a platform to promote intercultural dialogue and appreciation of diversity, connecting people from different backgrounds through art and music. A rescue of the cultural memory of Puerto Ricans both on the island and in the United States, since the life and work of Tite Curet Alonso are intrinsically linked to Puerto Rican culture and identity.

Tite Curet Alonso: Lyrics and Poetry is an opportunity to continue preserving his cultural memory, ensuring that his legacy lives on for future generations and serves as an inspiration for emerging artists and poets.
