Domino Table Talks - Episode 3

The third episode of Domino Table Talks was a collaboration with The People’s Theatre, to celebrate their upcoming production Domino Effect. Filmed at Alianza Dominicana in Washington Heights, the four players were members of the play’s creative team, Catalina Beltrán, María-Cristina Fusté, Mino Lora, and Janio Marrero. They shared childhood memories of domino in Puerto Rico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic and present relationships with the game in NYC. As Beltrán puts it, seeing tables in the street in her neighborhood in Inwood makes the street feel safer. The streets become community spaces because of how people inhabit them. Over Presidentes and Medallas, the theatre producers also discussed the resource sharing and cross-organizational relationships needed to produce Latino theatre in New York.
Domino Table Talks is a Historias initiative, the Clemente’s citywide project produced in collaboration with the Latinx institutional collective LxNY to re-center Latinx narratives in New York City that will present scholarly research, oral histories, and cultural programming through 2026.
