“Migration powers economic growth, reduces inequalities, and connects diverse societies. Yet it is also a source of political tensions and human tragedies.” -Antonio Gueterres

In the course of human history, mankind has moved from one place to another, often to flee danger and seek a safe haven. This is true today and affects this country, this city, this time. Our exhibition addresses the myriad experiences and struggles of people from Latin America and the Caribbean compelled to venture away from their native countries to escape extreme danger and hardship and looking for safety and opportunity. The artists of ArteLatAm will express their own experiences through sculpture, painting, printmaking, installations, and mobiles. ArteLatAm Collective: Formed in 2017 by six artists [Diego Anaya, Pablo Caviedes, Hermann Mejía, Moses Ros, Naivy Pérez, and Carlos Torres Machado] who live and work in New York City. They are from Latin America and the Caribbean, including Ecuador, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. As immigrants, they wish to tell their stories and explore the immigration experiences of others who make this place their home.

Programming throughout the exhibition includes an artists talk and multiple gallery tours by appointment.
